Job Description:

CenterPointe is looking for a part-time Peer Engagement Specialist to join our Outpatient Team!  This peer expert will connect one-on-one with individuals receiving outpatient therapy, medication management, case management, housing, and more.  Check out a summary below, or to read a full job description, click here!

A positive, outgoing team player who is passionate about helping others to succeed in their treatment.  You're person-centered, knowledgeable about co-occurring issues, and able to easily build rapport with others.  A fast-paced & changing work environment is exciting for you, and you navigate complex resources and systems with ease in order to benefit the persons served.​
   

WHAT YOU'LL DO  

- Screen consumers interested in services to assist the team in determining the most appropriate level(s) of care or services for each individual

- Upon identifying an appropriate service or level of care for a consumer, provide a “warm handoff” to the assigned program staff (i.e. Care Manager, Therapist, APRN, etc.)

- Provide peer counseling and support, promote hope and empowerment, advocacy, and problem-solving with consumers

- Build connections/rapport with consumers who are missing or cancelling appointments.  Contact consumers who have missed or cancelled appointments whenever possible


- Utilize your personal insight as an expert in the recovery process, symptom management, and client choice to engage persons served in their own treatment and recovery process

- Address barriers that are preventing consumers from engaging in services

- Work cooperatively as a team member to suggest appropriate changes in treatment plans to ensure that immediate and appropriate interventions are provided

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

- High school diploma and two or more years of experience in working with adults who are struggling with or have severe and persistent mental illness.

BS in psychology, social work, counseling, or other related field preferred.

Education in recovery principles (formal training in a recognized peer support program preferred).

Must have a persistent mental illness and have received mental health services. 

- Demonstrate self-knowledge and management of their own mental illness; must be well along in their recovery. 

Licensing or other requirements:
Valid Nebraska driver’s license with clean DMV record.
