Job Description:

Job Purpose:

Under general direction of the Medical Practitioners and as a Certified Medical Assistant with knowledge of various medication manufacturers and Patient/Medication Assistance Programs and LB95 medications related to Behavioral Healthcare, will assist in the management of client/consumer enrollment and recordkeeping for the medication management program services. Assist practitioners in other medical related services covered under their scope of practice as directed. Serve as primary contact for coordination with Lincoln Regional Center in the completion and submission of paperwork required for clients receiving LB95 medications. 

Essential Job Duties:

Service Delivery

  • Meet with patients to enroll and/or re-enroll in patient assistance programs with behavioral health medication assistance programs, and Lincoln Regional Center for LB95 client medications.
  • Verify income eligibility for patients requesting assistance through patient assistance programs, fax/mail applications with required income verification and manage enrollment/recertification’s processes.
  • Monitor medication applications, record, and manage client medications. Call client to arrange pick up of medications
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the primary pharmaceutical company representatives/assistance programs and any local collaborating pharmacy’s for patient assistance service needs.
  • At the direction of the medical practitioner, manage the refill processes for patient medications.  
  • In coordination with peer support specialists, assist in client engagement of medication services.
  • Act as the liaison between client and practitioner in between scheduled medication management appointments.
  • Notify practitioners of reported client side effects and provide directions to client on behalf of the practitioner as requested.
  • Manage and direct additional client medical record and lab requests. 
  • Receive and process all correspondence from various drug companies regarding a patient’s enrollment status, problem with applications, or need for additional information. At the direction of medical practitioner, provide all other medical assistance such as taking/monitoring vitals, injections and making referrals to other medical/dental community services based on client need under the employee’s scope of practice. 


Record Keeping 

  • ·Maintain patient assistance charts and file system.

  • Document all medications received in each patient’s clinical record and notify practitioner of denials/delays/application issues to ensure timely client access medication needs.

  • Maintain clinical file per agency policy and procedures.



Job Requirements:

Job Requirements:

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant required; Licensed Practical Nurse preferred
  • Minimum of two years experience in a behavioral health setting
  • Experience in customary office practices and procedures, including the use of standard office equipment
  • Knowledge of behavioral health related medications, potential side effects and co-occurring medical conditions.
  • Ability to organize and manage projects with efficiency, thoroughness, attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, highly emotionally charged atmosphere
  • Exemplary customer services skills to appropriately respond to patient needs
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of auto liability insurance and ability to drive for organization business
