Coordinates services to ensure students with documented disabilities are provided educational and programmatic support as well as physical access to all programs mandated by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA ), and amendments to the ADA . Provides academic advising to prospective and current students with disabilities. Examples of Work Performed 1. Coordinate disability accommodation services a. Facilitate the intake process, serving as the designated contact for students seeking services, provide relevant information in the form of presentations via student/parent/guardian meetings during registration, or with prospective students during scheduled meeting or walk-in appointments. b. Facilitate the provisions of ongoing services to students with disabilities, including communication with faculty, professional services, provision testing locations, proctored exams, and adaptive technology. c. Develop educational support plans for students with disabilities, using best practices to provide accommodations for students, and maintain appropriate documentation for support plans. d. Work with faculty/staff who have questions regarding the accommodation process, and seek effective solutions to the student needs and challenges that arise. e. Participate in developing improvements to the procedures and protocols used to deliver disability services. f. Develop a rapport with students while serving as an advocate and mentor, and assisting them with their responsibilities in the accommodation process. g. Contact students with disabilities regarding early alerts. h. Collaborate with Facilities to maintain campus physical accessibility to identify and eliminate attitudinal, behavioral, and physical obstacles for students. i. Maintain adaptive equipment for students to ensure their needs are being met. j. Advertise, provide educational programming, serve on committees, and disseminate other forms of information to ensure faculty/staff and students are informed about disability services. k. Implement and support the Educational Support and Disability Services Advisory Committee. 2. Advise students with disabilities toward their academic goals. a. Provide coaching for students to assist with identifying academic goals, develop strategies to reach goals, identify barriers, and refer students to the appropriate campus resources. b. Advise and register students during New Student Registration. 3. Provide assistance and support to students from underrepresented communities. 4. Assist with developing pathway programs for students from underrepresented communities. 5. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director for Student Diversity, Inclusion and Compliance.
