Job Description:

*This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus and up to $10,000 in loan forgiveness.*

General Summary


Provides individual, family, and group sessions for clients and their families who suffer from substance use disorders. Implements assessments, treatment plans, and discharge plans on all clients assigned to their caseload. Actively communicates with referral sources to secure ongoing services for clients preparing to discharge from current levels of care. Works primarily with adult clients.


Uses and discloses patient protected health information: 1) Only as it applies to job functions, 2) in amounts minimally necessary for intended purpose, and 3) in a confidential manner.
 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1.* Establishes and maintains effective therapeutic relationships with clients and/or families and significant others who are experiencing a variety of complex substance use disorder problems.
2.* Demonstrates skills in individual, family, and group settings as they apply to primary substance use disorder issues.
3.* Conducts chemical dependency assessments and evaluations to include complete biopyschosocial assessment process.
4.* Keeps clinical records to include orientation, assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, treatment plan update/staffing reviews, discharge plans, etc.
5.* Provides educational lectures to both clients and their families in areas specific to substance abuse and prevention.
6.* Presents clinical cases to a multidisciplinary team in order to develop and prioritize client’s needs,
update treatment plans, and plan for appropriate discharge.
7. Exhibits research skills in order to collect and compile outcome data for the A&D Treatment
Center.
8.* Maintains active and consistent communication with current and potential referral sources in the
community to ensure continuity of care for substance abusing clients.
9.* Communicates clinically with third party payers in order to ensure continued stays for clients at the
appropriate levels of care.
10.* Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books,
journals, regulations and standards and attending related seminars, conferences and the like.
11.* Performs Mental Status Exam when needed as well as expertise in dual diagnosis and perform dual
diagnosis assessment and treatment as needed.

 

Job Requirements:

Education
Requires the knowledge of counseling substance abusers equivalent to completing a Masters degree in the Human Services Field.
 
License/Certification
Must be licensed as either a provisional or fully licensed LMHP/LADC or a fully licensed LADC.
 
Experience
An understanding of the disease process and client care in the field of substance use disorders. Familiarity and understanding of Alcoholics Anonymous, narcotics anonymous, Al-Anon, and other 12 Step Recovery Programs. Evidence of active involvement in a recovery program for those employees who have experienced past personal
problems with substance abuse.
 
Interpersonal skills necessary to provide counseling, group facilitation, lectures to clients, and to otherwise communicate with staff, family, and external referral sources.
 
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 25% of working time when reviewing medical histories, completing documentation, and so forth.
 
Analytical ability required to be able to evaluate clients and families on issues pertaining to substance abuse, develop treatment plans, assess progress, make needed adjustments to treatment
plans, etc.
 
2-3 years of experience preferred.
