Job Description

Psychologists take leadership roles on treatment teams and provide individual and group therapy for patients while they are in the program. Psychologists do evaluations of psychological functioning, intellectual ability, and personality as well as assessments of risk for violence and re-offense. Along with a Psychiatrist, they develop the patient diagnosis in Diagnostic Staff. Psychologists take leadership roles on Medical Staff and other committees within the hospital, including: Program Planning, Medical Records, Restraint and Seclusion, Administrative Council, etc. Psychologists provide virtually all testimony for mental health board hearings. Psychologists also provide consultation on behavioral plans and provide training for staff who are new to the area.

Job Requirements

Must be licensed to practice psychology in the state of Nebraska.
