Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center YRTC - 855 N 1st Street, Geneva, NE 68361 
8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday - Friday along with on-call responsibilities 

The Mental Health Practitioner is responsible in providing mental health needs for individual, group, and family therapy services consistent with the goals established by the interdisciplinary treatment team. In addition to those responsibilities, they are also required to develop individual treatment plans for the youth and participate in various meetings to include treatment team, family team meetings, and often court hearings including the travel to them. Documentation and progress notes are also a required function of the job. The Therapist responds to crisis situations and aids in de-escalating youth as needed. 

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner or possesses another license that allows the incumbent to provide the above mental health services as required by NE. Rev. Statute 38-2122. Will consider Provisional Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP) or eligible to become licensed as a PLMHP at the time of employment. Legal Requirements: Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Development, Psychology, Family Relations, Vocational Rehabilitation, Art Therapy, Divinity, Human Resources, Naturopathy, Mental Health or other field approved by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services in order to become a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner AND 3000 hours of post-degree supervised counseling experience.

PREFERRED: Dually Licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner & LADC. Experience in treating youth in an inpatient treatment facility or in a correctional/forensic facility is valuable. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have the ability to: provide individual, group, and family therapy; may be asked to administer tests and assessment tools; may design and present in-service training in areas of clinical expertise; will serve as treatment plan coordinator for individuals on their caseload, and must possess excellent oral and written skills. This individual must have knowledge of trauma-informed care, patterns and processes of normal growth and development, mental and emotional disorders, behavior management, theories of intervention, and the ability to demonstrate application of therapy methods and techniques. Interpersonal skills are essential.
