Job Description

  • Mid-Plains Center for Behavioral Healthcare Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) for full-time employment in our Outpatient Clinic. This Clinic provides client-centered mental health services that facilitate positive treatment outcomes for consumers served.

This medical practitioner role serves as an advocate for consumers seeking medication management for presenting mental health needs. The PA/APRN completes an initial psychiatric evaluation, identifies a comprehensive DSM 5 diagnosis, provides psychoeducation of diagnosis and medication options, manages consumer medication needs, and completes discharge planning to close out treatment provision. The PA/APRN also engages in community collaboration with the consumer’s primary physician and makes local referrals to encourage integrated and effective treatment and aftercare.

Interested individuals must possess outstanding communication skills to provide care to consumers, while collaborating with the clinic’s treatment and administrative team. Duties include directing medication management, performing history and physical exams, managing commonly occurring health and disease related symptoms, performing consultations, initiating medical orders, recording progress notes, and completing discharge summaries/orders.

Clinic hours are 8 am-5 pm Monday-Thursday and 8 am–4 pm Friday.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

Successful completion of an accredited program for Physicians Assistant program. Must have a current, valid license as a Physician Assistant OR Successful completion of an accredited program for Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. Must have a current, valid license as a Registered Nurse and be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Nebraska.

Preferred:

Psychiatric specialization/certification or clinical experience working with consumers. Experience working as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner within a clinical setting or equivalent experience.
