Houses of Hope is hiring for a Peer Support Specialist who has experience as a recipient of behavioral health services to serve as a member of the Touchstone team. The perfect candidate will offer insight as an expert in the recovery process, symptom management, and client choice while modeling appropriate skills and behaviors. The Peer Support Specialist will work actively and cooperatively as a team member, ensuring consumer confidentiality and accurate electronic medical record documentation.
Qualifications: High school diploma and two years of experience working with adults with severe and persistent behavioral health challenges. Educated in recovery principles (formal training in a recognized peer support program (CPS) preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and possess excellent organizational skills. Interpersonal skills must reflect a tolerance and understanding of people with varied backgrounds, and the ability to build strong relationships while maintaining appropriate work boundaries. Must have received services for diagnosed behavioral health issues and have a well-established program of own recovery. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
Physical Requirements: Professional/office job involving sitting (some walking or standing), movement around between program facilities, and minor exertion of up to 10-15 pounds to lift, carry, push pull or otherwise move objects commonly found in an office setting.
