Lutheran Family Services is currently seeking on-call interpreter/translators for our Global Language Services program in the following Languages: Arabic, Chin, Chinese, Dinka, Farsi, Kurdish, Oromo, Tigrinya, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Karen, Nepali, Swahili, Somali, Dari/Pashto, Karinni, Burmese, Nuer, Spanish, and American Sign Language.
The Global Language Services (GLS) program at Lutheran Family Services provides language interpretation and translation services in Omaha, Lincoln and surrounding communities. LFS Interpreters serve as language and cultural brokers for new populations that have limited English proficiency and community partners that provide needed services. Community partners include Nebraska DHHS, Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare Professional Partners Program, PromiseShip, Boys Town, Immanuel Pathways PACE Program, Connections at Project Harmony, City of Omaha, and Douglas County Health Department.
Interpreters are needed on an on-call basis to provide oral interpretation services to LFS and community partner’s clients to facilitate access to needed services such as, but not limited to: educational training, job interviews, refugee resettlement, medical , legal, and social services, substance abuse/mental health, and other related needs.
Translators are needed to provide written translation services for documents including but not limited to: educational brochures or plans, birth certificates, marriage licenses, behavioral health informational sheets, and pamphlets for community projects.
GLS Interpreters adhere to Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for professional interpreters and translators. GLS is a corporate member of Nebraska Association for Translators and Interpreters (NATI).
