Lutheran Family Services of NE is hiring three employee's to provide home studies for a variety of adoption related situations, including but not limited to domestic and international adoption. The Home Study Specialist will assist other personnel, as needed, to provide services to adoptive families in the home study of potential adoptive homes and in the placement of children in the adoptive homes. Locations include Lexington, Lincoln, and North Platte, NE.
Essential Job Duties:
Home Studies• Respond to inquiry calls from persons requesting home study services.• Communicate with clients on the progress of current home study progress.• Complete the necessary units of service to fulfill the requirements and produce a written home study document.
Collaboration• Network with other placing agencies as appropriate.
Record Keeping• Maintain files on each home study client including identifying, historical and ongoing progress information.• Assist with maintaining a database on all home studies referred to the Agency.• Assist with gathering and compilation of statistical data.• Participate in quality assurance activities, as assigned.
Professionalism & Confidentiality• Maintain the confidentiality of all clients.• Adhere to agency/client record security procedures.
Interpersonal Relationships• Maintain a positive, respectful and professional demeanor in all contacts with clients, other professionals and the public.• Seek guidance, as necessary in handling difficult situations, emergencies and establishing priorities for day-to-day work.• Work to build positive, productive relationships with the Agency.• Maintain positive, supportive relationships with potential adoptive families.
Growth & Development• Participate in ongoing training opportunities related to adoption.• Participate in team building and program activities as requested.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services or related field.• Knowledge of adoption related issues, attachment and grief issues.• Possess a basic understanding of the child welfare/NDHHS system.• Knowledge of resources available within the community.• Possess good written/verbal communication skills.• Possess good organizational skills including the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks and activities.• Possess basic computer skills.• Commitment to teamwork and collaboration.• Valid Nebraska driver’s license, proof of liability insurance and ability to drive for Agency business.• Commitment to the mission of Lutheran Family Services.
